Carlsbad
USGP 1980 racing motocross DVD video - Up until June 22,
1980, the 500cc United States Grand Prix motocross race
at Carlsbad had been dominated by European riders. Dutchmen
Gerrit Wolsink won the race an astounding five times himself.
While perhaps the world's best known rider and 5-time
World Champion, Roger DeCoster could never find victory
in Carlsbad, his other European counterparts swept the
up and coming American talent on their home turf every
year on national TV. By the summer of 1980, the 500cc
World championship of Motocross series was being battled
by two men, American "Bad Brad" Lackey and Belgium's
Andre Malherbe. But on that hot Sunday in June, it was
not one of the regulars on the GP circuit that leapt to
the front of the first moto. It was not even one of the
established Factory American riders ready to make a name
for themselves. It was a privateer rider from the local
area named Marty Moates. He was about to do what no other
American rider could accomplish in the nine previous years....win
the Carlsbad USGP, and ABC's Wide World of Sports' cameras
were rolling. This is the story behind Marty's magical
day!.

Mud-spitting,
high-jumping and hard-crashing - this is the spectacular
sport of Motocross in one of its most action-packed years.
All eyes were on Britain's Dave Thorpe as he attempted
to defend his 500cc World Championship, but he wasn't
going to have it all his own way as the battle went down
to the wire. The 1986 season was dominated by four of
the finest Motocross riders - Thorpe, Eric Geboers, Andre
Malherbe and Georges Jobe. As the series reached its final
round, these four men all had a shot at the title - setting
up an unbelievable and unforgettable climax.
This
review, on DVD for the first time, captures the most important
thrills and spills of this amazing year. It is packed
with detailed reviews of rounds in Austria, Holland, France,
Britain, Belgium and Luxembourg, including practice laps,
mass starts and comprehensive race coverage.
Plus,
there are interviews with many of the big stars as the
dramatic story unfolds, and breathtaking slo-mo footage
of the kings of Motocross in action. This is a chance
to re-live the awesome expertise as these two-wheeled
gladiators battle through dust, mud, rain, sand and terrifying
leaps in the quest for glory. The key moments of a history-making
season - including Thorpe's radiator cap mishap, his heavy
spill on home ground and the last race battle for the
championship - are brought together in this comprehensive,
must-have compilation.

Mud-splattered,
rain-soaked and out for glory - this is the story of a
dramatic season of spectacular motocross, packed with
action, incident and controversy. Britain's David Thorpe
was out to score a hat trick of 500cc World Championship
titles as the best motocross riders on Earth gathered
in Spain for the first of 12 adrenalin-powered rounds.
However, after a sparkling start, 1985 and 1986 champ
Thorpe's title tilt was thrown into doubt when he left
the Scandinavian races winless. Arch-rival Georges Jobe,
the two-times 250cc World Champion, emerged as a genuine
title challenger. At the halfway point Thorpe's season
was ruined by an arm-breaking crash that left him unable
to mount a real defence of his world crown. It looked
like Jobe would take the title unchallenged, but a new
British challenger emerged - Kurt Nicoll.
Featuring
Jobe, Thorpe, Nicoll, Lungqvist, Martens and more! Nicoll
won the opening race of the British Grand Prix in front
of 35,000 fans and maintained his amazing form to take
the fight to Belgium's Jobe. With just two rounds left,
Nicoll had a slim shot at the championship, but his hopes
were dashed by a race-ending crash in Luxembourg - allowing
Jobe to take his first 500c World Championship with one
round to spare. The thrills, spills and tension of an
amazing season are captured in three hours of highlights,
available on DVD for the first time. Awesome race footage
and interviews with leading competitors put you at the
heart of the action as the drama unfolds.

British
hero Dave Thorpe was out to reclaim the motocross 500cc
World Championship title - but determined Belgian star
Eric Geboers had other ideas. Duke is delighted to present
the full story of the fast and furious 1988 season in
an action-packed three hours of stunning footage, available
on DVD for the first time. Staggering leaps, bone-crunching
falls, amazing race action and fascinating interviews
with leading riders put you at the heart of the title
battle as the drama unfolds. Two-times World Champion
Thorpe was determined to make up for the disappointment
of 1987, when injury prevented him defending his crown.
as the season started in Austria, he was in amazing form
and dominated both legs of the meeting. Despite his strong
rides, Thorpe quickly discovered he had a fight on his
hands, courtesy of Honda teammate Geboers, who was bidding
to become the first man in history to win world championships
in 125cc, 250cc and 500cc competition. After the American
Grand Prix - the seventh of 12 rounds - the nip and tuck
title battle was finely poised, with Geboers trailing
Thorpe by just eight points. The British Grand Prix put
the championship rivals head-to head, crossing the finish
line at the end of leg one almost side by side. It was
Thorpe who left England victorious, winning both races.
However, Thorpe's season was thrown into chaos with a
heavy practice spill at the Dutch Grand Prix. A broken
collarbone forced him out for two rounds, and Geboers
made the most of his adversary's absence to establish
a healthy points advantage.
Brit Kurt Nicoll attempted to fly the British flag on
his works Kawasaki and take the challenge to Geboers,
but the Belgian was unstoppable. At the penultimate round,
on home ground, Geboers did just enough to secure the
title. The Motocross 500cc World Championship review brings
you all the vital moments of a nail-biting season.

Dust,
rain, mud, drama - 1989 promised a mouth-watering battle
between a stellar line-up of world champions and hard
charging challengers. Reigning 500cc World Champion Eric
Geboers, former title-holders Dave Thorpe and Georges
Jobe, plus rising stars Kurt Nicoll and Jeff Leisk, were
ready for what promised to be a truly unforgettable year
of MX action. While Australian Leisk, in his first full
500cc season, and Dirk Geukens shared the wins at the
opening round, old-hands Geboers and Thorpe soon took
control to dominate every race at the next three rounds.
After four events it was honours even, the pair sharing
the championship lead with equal points. Kees van der
Ven was the in-form man during the middle of the season,
taking wins in Scandinavia to bring himself onto the tail
of the title chase, behind Brit Nicoll and Leisk. However,
after seven rounds, it was Geboers who held the lead,
almost 30 points ahead of Thorpe. The British star fought
back to claim four wins from the next six races, including
double victory at his home round. The slim chances of
Geboers retaining his world title disappeared at the penultimate
round, as Thorpe took both wins and his third 500cc World
Championship. This is the story of a dramatic season featuring
incredible race action, fascinating interviews and all
the mud-spitting, high-jumping, bike-smashing moments
of an amazing year. Features action from Holland, France,
Italy, Finland, San Remo, Britain, Belgium, Luxembourg
and Switzerland. Motocross World Championship 1989 is
part of a collectable set of classic MX World Championship
reviews..

Fresh
battle lines were drawn as the stars gathered for the
opening round of what promised to be one of the most exciting
Motocross 500cc World Championship seasons ever. So many
big names had so much to prove as the 1990 championship
got under way. Britain's Dave Thorpe had moved to Kawasaki
from Honda, where he had won three world crowns, fellow
Brit Kurt Nicoll, now with KTM, was determined to mount
a real championship bid, Eric Geboers was out to win back
the title he lost to Thorpe the previous year and Jeff
Leisk was ready to deliver on the promise of 1989. However,
it was rising American star Billy Liles who dominated
both races at the opening round in Holland. While Thorpe
battled his way back into contention with double victory
in Austria, it was Liles, with four wins under his belt,
that led the championship heading into the Italian round.
Then disaster struck - a heavy fall on the treacherous
Italian circuit left Liles nursing a broken leg and unable
to defend his championship lead. Belgian Geboers rose
to the challenge and, with seven rounds down, the only
man to win 125cc, 250cc and 500cc MX titles held a dominant
lead in the chase for the 1990 world crown. As the final
races of the 12-round championship were contested, Geboers
held his nerve - despite the hard charging of rivals Thorpe,
Dirk Geukens, Jacky Martens and a new British star, teenager
Paul Mallin. On home ground, with two rounds to spare,
Geboers took victory and his second 500cc World Championship
title - an amazing performance from one of the true stars
of the sport. Enjoy all the incredible action as the story
of a dramatic motocross season unfolds, with spectacular
highs and dramatic lows from an unforgettable year of
mud-spitting racing in stunning, digitally remaster and
re-edited footage.

Every
Motocross rider falls off. Its just a question of
how often which separates the men from the boys! Even
world champions are not exempt as we experience 300 crashes,
smashes and wipeouts from the spectacular to the slightly
sad. Its not surprising theres a lot of coming
together when 50 bikes head off for the same 10 metres
of track at the first corner! Watch the mayhem on the
beach as the riders wilt under the energy-sapping conditions
but at least theres a soft landing, unlike
those bumpy, stony motocross circuits where we see bruising,
bone-crunching and sometimes very funny action. Theres
some heart-stopping moments, too as riders bale out in
mid-air hoping for a landing which doesnt damage
the bike. Nobody gets seriously hurt. Still, better not
let your Mum see this one!

The
International Six Days Enduro is known as the 'Olympics
of Motorcycling' such is the enormous amount of effort,
stamina and skill required to compete. It is a 1000 mile
test of mechanical and human endurance both off-road and
on. Today's bikes are designed and built specifically
for Enduro competition. Back in the Fifties, however,
things were different. The event was known a s the International
Six Days Trial and the bikes were based on standard road
models with hardly and modification. Enduro Classics features
gruelling ISDT events with stars of the era competing
in Italy, Austria and Wales during 1951, 1952 and 1954.
They are linked by present-day reminiscences from gold
medal winners of the past such as Jeff Smith and Eddie
Dow. Two more gold medallists include Brian Martin and
Norman Vanhouse, who were part of the BSA team who rode
from Birmingham to Vienna and back to Oslo - a 4500 mile
trip that won them the coveted Maudes trophy for achievements
on two wheels. The team also competed in the ISDT en route
and none of the riders dropped a single mark! The full
flavour of their epic ride is featured here. These original
films, together with the memories of the legendary riders,
recapture an era when four-strokes dominated and an ISDT
entry was a major adventure. Classic stuff, in more ways

Magic is an entertaining round-up of three very different
motorbike events from 1983. Memorable European races are
shown, along with tips on trial riding like a champion.
The 1983 World Ice-Racing Championship semi-final in Holland
provides plenty of thrilling race action. Ice racing is
similar to speedway with a series of heats run over a
400 metre speed skating track. Spikes screwed into the
tyres mean that the riders can corner at enormous speed
laid over almost horizontally as the spikes grip. Despite
the obvious danger the racing is very close. Speed, skill
and sheer strength are needed for the British round of
the 1983 World Sidecar Motocross Championship. The two
heats are full of action, with crazy scenes as the course
rapidly turns into a quagmire. The action continues with
highlights from the 1983 World Trials Championship (Swiss
Round). Here, seemingly impossible terrain is tackled
with skill and artistry by the world's best riders with
the stunning Swiss Alps as a backdrop. Also, there is
an extensive skills section by World Trials Champion Eddy

ability. See dramatic descents, rock-hopping, vertical
climbs and other magical motorcycling techniques and learn
